Garage door repair
An unfamiliar noise, a door that moves unevenly or a motor running without results: tell us what has changed. Understanding the problem is the right place to start.

What to consider
The right repair starts with the right cause.
A garage door works as a system: panels, springs, cables, rollers, tracks and the opener work together. A symptom alone does not always identify the faulty part. B. Morel offers garage door repair services. Describe what you have noticed to help prepare an assessment suited to your installation.
Uneven movement
Does the door catch, tilt or stop? The tracks, rollers, cables and door balance may need to be examined.
New noises
Squeaking, banging or vibration: note when the sound occurs. This detail helps distinguish a door issue from an opener issue.
Incomplete closing
A door that reverses or leaves a gap at the floor can have several causes. Obstructions, sensors and mechanical condition are among the things to check.
Note the symptoms
When did the problem start? Does it occur when opening, when closing or with only one remote?
Document from a distance
A photo taken without standing under the door can show its position or a visibly damaged part.
Request an assessment
The condition of the whole system helps determine the appropriate repair and parts before work begins.
Before you get in touch
Include your municipality, the door's current position and whether there is another way into the garage. If the door is crooked, a cable is slack or a spring appears broken, stop operating it. Springs and cables are under tension: leave work on them to a professional.
My garage door will not open. Is the motor always the cause?
No. The issue may involve the power supply, a control, the door mechanism or the opener. A struggling motor may also be trying to move an unbalanced door. Avoid forcing it to operate and describe any sounds or movements you have noticed when requesting help.
Should I repair or replace the door?
That depends on its overall condition, the damage, parts availability and repair cost. A single fault does not automatically mean you need a new door. Several worn components, however, may make replacement worth considering. An assessment helps you compare the options.
Can I use a door with a broken spring?
Stop operating it and keep people clear. The spring helps balance a heavy door; the opener does not replace that function. Do not attempt to tension the spring, handle the cables or lift an unstable door.
Why does the door reverse before closing?
An obstruction, sensor issue or mechanical resistance can trigger reversal. Look for anything blocking the opening and consult the opener's manual. If the issue continues, request a check rather than bypassing the safety devices.
What information should I send for a repair?
Your municipality, a description of the problem, the opener's make and model if known, and photos taken safely. Also mention whether the door is open or closed and whether the problem is constant or intermittent.
